It was an exceptional moment of happiness for Naeemah Junaid and Bashir Ahmad (Personal Assistant to the President on New Media) as they hold their Kamu wedding ceremony in Katsina.
Kamu means catch the brides and it is one of the oldest and most interesting events in the Hausa wedding tradition.
To get the bride, the groom’s family negotiates with the bride’s friends for her release her to them.
This is a really fun event and negotiation may take up to 30 minutes followed by a fun reception.
Naeemah and Bashir danced amidst friends who excitingly in high spirits.
The wedding fatiha will be taking place on September 25th, 2020 at the GRA Katsina Juma’at Mosque. Thereafter, the bride will be conveyed to Kano where a novelty football match will be held on Saturday, September 26th, 2020 between TeamBashir and TeamNaeemah.
The dinner reception in honor of the couple will be held same Saturday in Kano. Departure of guests will be on Sunday, September 27th, 2020.
